THE
HISTORY OF NOVA GERAÇÃO
Francisco
Toco, responsible for Nova Geração, was introduced to jiu-jitsu
by his friend Rodrigo Medeiros, who already practiced for 6 months and
insisted that he should train. Through his incentive, Toco started practicing
the martial art with the teacher Maneco. Since then, he did never stop.
Afterward,
in 1987, Maneco showed him the academy of Carlson Gracie, one icon of
the sport. Living together with Murilo Bustamante, Libório, Bolão,
Clovis, Amaury, Carlson Gracie Jr., Isaias, Alberto Santos, Wallid, and
other excellent fighters from that barn of champions helped him a lot
to train and develop. Besides, he made good friends such as Parrumpinha,
“big brother”, Cristiano Magrinho, Playmobil, Rinaldo Santos
and others. Great time...
On
June, 12th 1992, Toco and his partner Rodrigo Medeiros were invited to
teach jiu-jitsu at an academy in Leblon, where later Nova Geração
started.
At
first, it hasn’t any pretensions. But, gradually, the team developed
and achieved good results. Some years later, it has been noted that they
became a big family, and not only one academy.
“We
believe that the basic training of jiu-jitsu is essential for the best
athlete’s development. Our difference is the good atmosphere of
the academy: very familiar, perfect to make friends and respect the other.
Here everybody helps each other. Undoubtedly, it’s our second house.”.
– says Toco. |
